Following are terms and conditions applying to various tour and package offerings on this web site. Please also note additional terms and conditions under each respective type of travel arrangement. These terms & conditions apply to reservations and/or travel arrangements serviced by JTB USA, Inc. (hereinafter, JTB) for the customer (hereinafter, Travelers).

I. General Terms and Conditions:

Reservations:

Travelers may make reservations (application for services) by telephone, e-mail, facsimile, mail or visiting the nearest JTB office locations in United States. Once confirmed, however, some sort of written confirmation shall be submitted to JTB acknowledging that the arrangements made by JTB on their behalf are correct. With this acknowledgement and the payment of the required deposit, Travelers will acknowledge acceptance of and promise to abide by the terms and conditions stated therein. Please read terms & conditions under each respective type of travel arrangement for more details.

Passports & Visas:

Travelers are responsible to be in possession of a passport with at least six months validity remaining after the date of their scheduled return to the United States. U.S. citizens are also required to have a valid visa for travel to certain countries. Non-U.S. citizens should contact the proper consulate for specific entry requirements. Costs for passport and/or visa application are Travelers own responsibility.
Travelers may consult with JTB on what documentation is needed.
However, consulting with JTB in no way changes the fact that the responsibility to possess necessary documents resides with the traveler. Where possible, travelers may request assistance from JTB in securing visa documents with payment of the designated JTB service fees along with the required fees assessed by the respective Consular offices.

Escorts/Guides:

In cases where an escort will accompany Travelers, this will be clearly stated in the tour and/or package description. In all other cases, travel will be on your own with the exception of an accompaniment of an English speaking guide. For optional tours, limited services of English speaking guide will be provided unless otherwise stated.

Name Changes:

Name changes are not allowed and will be handled as a new booking.

Changes in Arrangements:

Any changes in travel arrangements after travel documents have been issued will require payment of applicable penalties assessed by suppliers involved along with a processing fee of $50.00 per person.

Price Guarantee:

Prices for any and all travel arrangements are not guaranteed until all requested arrangements are confirmed and full payment has been received.

Responsibility:

JTB hereby makes known that it is acting solely in the capacity of an agent in all matters regarding travel, whether it be by airline, rail, motor coach, boat or other mode of conveyance including, but not limited to all matters of reservation or tour operation. Thus, no liability is assumed for injury, damage, loss, accident, delay or irregularity which may be caused either by reason of defect in any vehicle, or through the act or default of any company or person engaged in conveying the passenger, or in carrying out the arrangements of the tour(s) or otherwise. We cannot accept responsibility for losses or additional expenses due to delay or changes in transportation or other services, sickness, weather, strike, terrorism, war, quarantine, acts of God, or other unforeseen causes. The passage contract(s) for the lines or any other transportation entities enforce at the time of travel shall constitute the sole contract between the suppliers and the purchasers of these tours and packages. For Group Tours and/or Optional Tours, JTB may, after conclusion of the Travel Contract, cancel the tour or revise its contents and services for any of the following reasons: Natural calamity or disaster, weather conditions, civil unrest, Suspension of services rendered by contracted local tour operators, transportation providers and/or accommodation facilities, provision of transportation not based on the original operational plan, governmental orders, or other circumstances beyond JTB control. JTB reserves the right to take necessary measures when safe, smooth tour operation in accordance with the itinerary is deemed impossible, or when there is valid reason to believe that the tour cannot continue.

Special Conditions of the Contract between JTB and Travelers:

1. JTB agrees to provide the services confirmed to the best of its ability not withstanding circumstances beyond its control. When such circumstances beyond its control occur which are the result of the inability of its suppliers to provide the confirmed services, JTB hereby pledges to do all within its power to see that a proper refund for these unfulfilled services is given to travelers.

2. JTB may refuse an application for travel services if the Travelers skills or other conditions do not meet the criteria, safety requirements, or other required conditions, for specific services, tours or packages.

3. For Travelers between the ages of 15 and 18 or 21 (depending on the destination/country requirements), written authorization shall be provided by his/her guardian. All travelers under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

4. If JTB determines that the client needs medical diagnosis or treatment by a physician owing to illness, functional disease, or other reasons during the service, tour or package requested, JTB shall take measures deemed necessary to ensure smooth operation of the service, tour or package. All costs resulting from such measures shall be borne by the Traveler.

Baggage:

Baggage is at Travelers risk throughout the trip. Thus, baggage insurance is strongly recommended for those who are concerned about replacing their personal effects being taken on the trip in the unlikely event that loss or damage should occur. Transportation costs for any excess baggage is the responsibility of the traveler.

Privacy Policy:

JTB and its entrusted suppliers shall keep all information furnished by the Traveler in confidence, only using the information for its intended purpose in arranging the travel services requested.

II. Land Packages:

Additional to the general terms and conditions shown above under Section I, the following are applicable.

Prices Include:

Price inclusions are as specified in each description page. In most cases any related fees/service charges (Example: tax and service charges for hotel accommodations) will be included. Some packages include a specified number of breakfasts at the hotel, airport transfers, sightseeing tours if these are clearly stated in the description. Where optional tours are available, these costs will be additional to the basic package price. Additionally, please note as follows:

1. All hotel accommodations are based on double occupancy. For single travelers, a single supplement will be charged.

2. Unless otherwise specified, all train travel shall be in Ordinary class. For subway or local train travel, all seats shall be on an unreserved basis.

3. When applicable, all sightseeing tours and other transfers are on a seat sharing basis.

4. When applicable, an English speaking guide or escort shall be provided for specified sightseeing tours and/or transfers.

Prices Do Not Include:

Prices do not include any services not shown in the description and/or itinerary, such as, but not limited to meals, etc; cost for securing passports and/or visas; as well as all incidental charges including telephone, laundry, excess baggage charges, movies, videos, room service. Any special requests such as upgraded plans as well as extensions are subject to additional fees and/or charges.

Prices of land package do not include international airfare to and from the country or countries visited. JTB provides competitive airfares and is able to quote these separately at the time the package reserved.
Payment for the airfare will be due separately from the land package prior to ticketing per the requirements of the airline tariffs.

Except where specified, baggage transfer shall be the travelers responsibility.
Additional pieces of luggage shall be at the Travelers expense. When traveling by trains and other public transportation, it is recommended to travel as lightly as possible.

Deposit and Payment:

A deposit of $200.00 per person must be received at the time of confirmation to continue to hold the space. Final payment is due a minimum of 30 days prior to departure. Travel documents will not be sent out until final payment has been processed. Where packages are requested within one month, full payment will be due at the time of reservation. For arrangements requested within 14 days, a service fee of $50.00 per person will be assessed to cover expediting and communication.

Cancellation and Refund:

The following fees (cancellation penalties) will apply for cancellations:

61 days or more prior to departure     No penalty
60 days 31 days prior to departure     $100.00
30 days 15 days prior to departure     25% of the total cost
14 days 4 days prior to departure       50% of the total cost
3 days prior to departure/no-show      100% of the total cost

All cancellation requests must be received in writing. Where airline tickets have been additionally purchased, applicable cancellation penalties for the airfare portion will be governed by the airline tariffs and charged separately.
