Eternal Spring Shrine
Drive from the west exit of the Changchun Shrine Tunnel of Central Cross-Island Highway, then turn south to Liwu River Valley , one can see the Eternal Spring Shrine, or the Changchun Shine.   This is a place that recognizes the personnel died during the construction of Central Cross-Island Highway(212 have died during the construction).   Rivers adjacent to the Changchun Shine become the scattering falls, and the Highway Bureau named it after " Chanchun Falls " which is now the significant landmark on Central Cross-Island Highway. In the back of the Eternal Spring Shrine, there are stairs leading to the Kuanyin Caves , Taroko Tower, Bell Tower, and through a hanging bridge, or Heaven trail to Changuang Temple. The river valley next to this temple has a calabash shape, and therefore named the Calabash Valley.

Swallow Grotto
Following the Central Cross-Island Highway, at Swallow Grotto, or Yanzihkou, the rock cliffs of the Liwu River gorge seem to reach to heaven while the river runs it’s swiftest and distance between the gorge walls is so narrow that they almost seem to touch each other. Although Swallow Grotto is not long, it is the best sight to enjoy of views of Liwu River from nearly straight above the water. Notable landmarks here also include the potholes on the cliff faces, the springs sprinkled along the lower parts of the walls, as well as the famous rock formation “Chieftain’s profile rock”.

Tunnel of Nine Turns
This is the most magnificent part of Taroko Gorge, where as the sheer cliffs face each other. This was the most difficult part to excavate in the early period due to the wind coming from the bread river vallege to the narrow valley, which forced upwards when it hits the cliff surface. The Tunnel of Nne Turns was completed in 1996 so that the visitors can view the rock folds, joints and faults of the marble cliffs. The two cliffs are so close to each other, and it looks like they are joining to each other if seen from afar. This section has the reputation of "Nine Turns of the Coiled Dragon". The distance between the cliffs is only around 10-meters wide. In the small gap in the rocks, the narrow Kelan River's rush by, forming a "Fish leaping across the dragon gate" scenery. The trail is a must see point and one should stop by to enjoy the spectacular scenery that has been formed by tens of thousands of years of erosion. The number in nine in Chinese implying "many" is heavily used in the Chinese expression.

Tienhsiang Lodge
Tiansiang is a large river terrace recreational area in Taroko National Park. This is where the Dasha River and Tacih Jili River converge to become Liwu River. The Japanese Sakuma Samata Shrine, thefamous general from Imperial Japanese Army, was erected here during the Japanese Era. On the north-western side is the Tiansiang Youth Activity Center (Hostel) and a Catholic Church is next to it. Popular spots for visitors include the tall White Robed Guanyin Statue, the 7-story high Pagoda, and giant Statute of the Bodhisattva, Siangde Temple, and Dasiong Dadian temple as well as recreational Plum Garden.

Marble Factory
Hualien is located between the Pacific Ocean and the Central Mountain Range in Eastern Taiwan. It is considered as one of the most pleasant cities in Taiwan. Many tourists visit the city to enjoy the scenery of astonishing nature and fresh air. They are also renowned in manufacturing the marbles due to their abundance in natural stone mineral resources. Tourist will be able to see the procedure of how to turn marbles from raw materials to polished shiny stone.

Chi Shing Beach
The beach is located in the north of Hualien City; bike lover can use the bike path from Nanbin Seashore Park. This is wonderful place of the ocean views, delicious seafood, friendly people, and special goat restaurant which sells goat milk coffee. However, the beach is not popular for swimming due to its tide and currents are quite dangerous. The bottom drops off steeply and does not have much sand but pebbles .

Stone Sculptural Park
Hualien has the most abundant resource of stone mineral in Taiwan. The environmental advantage has turned them into a great artistic region in all kinds of crafts, especially the stone crafts. Hualien has first held an international stone sculpture expo in 1995. And ever since then Hualien become a representation of stone craft in Taiwan. The district government in Hualien is gradually developing the city into a large stone sculpture garden in the 21 st century.
