Pick up by car to the ancient city of Ayutthaya, the second capital city of Thailand during 1350-1767, located 80 kilometers north of Bangkok. The province is a treasure of evocative ruins of once magnificent palaces, temples and fortresses. First stop is made at Bang Pa-In Palace built in 17th century by King Prasat Thong to serve as a summer retreat for the kings of Ayuthaya. The palace was favorite place of King Mongkut and King Chulalongkorn of the present Chakri Dynasty, who have constructed several buildings with Thai, European and Chinese influences.
Then continue to visit the Historical Park of Ayuthaya, a vast stretch of historical sites which has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage since December 1991. See the ruins of the temple Wat Phra Si Sanphet, the most important temple within the Royal Palace.
